Planning Ahead for the SAT

Those of you who will be taking the SAT and/or ACT exams  need to plan ahead so that you can take the exams and not miss any band events.  Juniors in particular will need to take their exams at the end of this school year and/or in June – especially if you will be attempting early acceptance to Texas A&M or the University of Texas.

For your convenience we have included the SAT dates on our band calendar and have noted which days do and do not conflict with band events.  You will see multiple test dates throughout the year with only one or two conflicts.  Per the Band Handbook, the SAT and ACT are not considered excused absences from band events, therefore planning ahead is required by the students in order to be able to take the exams, do well on them, and meet all their band commitments.

We will have an afternoon performance time at the Bands of America Houston (BOA) contest on Saturday, Oct 6. Students wishing to take the SAT this day should register for the site closest to Woodforest Bank Stadium (Oak Ridge HS, The Woodlands HS, The Woodlands College Park HS) and utilize alternate transportation to meet us at the stadium.

The available SAT dates, per the band calendar, for the remainder of this school year and June are:

Saturday, Oct 6, 2018
Saturday, Nov 3, 2018
Saturday, Dec 1, 2018
Saturday, Mar 9, 2019
Saturday, May 4, 2019
Saturday, Jun 1, 2019

Chili’s Give Back & Wing Showdown Night

Let Chili’s do the cooking while you support the Clear Springs High School Band at the same time!

Join us at Chili’s in League City on Monday, 9/10 for food and fun. Chili’s will donate a percentage of sales the band brings in for the entire day. This includes take out orders so please tell your friends. Be sure to either present a flyer (digital or paper) or mention it to the server. This is an easy way to help fund the band and a good excuse not to cook!

Parents – join us in the “adult section” and get to know your fellow band parents. The football game will be on in the bar!

At 7:00 Mr. Witmer and Mr. Solis will go head to head in a wing eating battle! Come out and cheer them on!

Our give back nights last year were a huge success.  Let’s make this one even better with a big turnout!  If you work in an office or have friends and family who might enjoy eating out for a cause, please print and distribute as many flyers as you want.  Thank you for supporting our Charger band!!!

Please remember to present the flyer when paying for your meal!!

Water Wars

The CSHS Charger Band will celebrate the end of summer band and the beginning of the school year with water fun!  The League City Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand this Friday, August 31, directly following practice to help the band beat the heat with our annual Water Wars tradition by turning the marching field (parking lot) into a giant splash pad for everyone to get soaked! The booster club will have ice pops and water balloons are welcome as long as they are cleaned up afterward.

As there will be no sopping wet Chargers allowed in the band hall, and parents would not appreciate sopping wet Chargers in their cars, please remember to bring your towels. And please, no white t-shirts in the water!
